Rufige Kru remember their next life

Rufige Kru (aka Goldie and Heist) return from their excursion in Wonderland with their second album, 'Memoirs of an Afterlife', an album of cutting edge D&B that illustrates the genres origins as well as highlights of the genres new direction, clearing the way for the future sound of D&B. 'Memoirs of an Afterlife' is a vital album for all serious aficionados of drum and bass, covering a plethora of emotions, vibes and textures, unmistakably Rufige in execution. 'Mirror', a collaboration with scene pioneer D-Bridge, features a nostalgic, thudding 808 bass hook that is freshened up with a warping undulating sound that is distinctly Rufige Kru. 'Sometime Sad Day' features Metalheadz godfather Goldie's trademarked reversed vocal sound that with a guitar melody over the top, creating a subtle and layered piece of drum and bass that possibly acknowledges his recent forays into the classical world with drifting melancholy. Rufige Kru also step out of drum and bass arena and push back the boundaries with tracks such as the damaging dubstep exclusive 'Babylon 2012' and the intricate and hypnotic 'Only When I Dream', a memorable track with a very minimal approach to beats that features gentle keys and pads that add to the down-tempo flavour. Its a sparse track that creates a shamanic, hypnotic raga thats almost tribal. Meanwhile 'Is This Real', 'Paris' and 'One More Time' are more traditional dance floor bangers, which are going to be vital components in any modern D&B set. There are also a slew of remixes by some of the best producers drum and bass has to offer: D-Bridges 'Something About You' remix has been turning heads for some time now, with its distinct drums and distorted midrange shaking venues, while the sublime combination of Jenna G and A.I with the rework of 'Letting Go' has also been getting the rewind treatment. Lastly, but by no means least, Sabre and Alix Perez put their creative forces together with their mighty 'Chances' remix, with intricate beats and careful arrangement stunning people all across the d&b scene. A showcase then, not only for the Kruís contribution to D&B as a whole, but also for the direction that this still-vibrant scene is heading towards. 'Memoirs of an Afterlife' will be available on Vinyl EP, single disc CD album and as high quality mp3 downloads.
